01 / The brief

Take the farm shop online.

Pete's family butchery sells meat reared in Staffordshire, handmade pies and a café on the side. The goal was to let people order online and collect in the shop, without losing the feel of a proper farm butchery.

That meant a brand that looks like it has been on the counter for years, and a store that is simple to buy from.

04 / The longer story

A badge for the counter

A farm butchery should look like it knows what it is doing, so the brand is a traditional badge in deep green and gold, with "From farm to plate" around the edge. It sits happily on a paper bag, a price ticket or a website header.

A store that is easy to buy from

The Shopify store is built around how people actually shop there: order online, choose your shop, collect. Every collection, from steak to sausages, opens with a few plain lines about where the meat comes from and how it is cut, so you know what you are buying before you scroll.

Pies with personality

Pete's Pies have a following of their own, so they got their own look: each pie shot on a wooden board, with a colour-coded label for the filling. Steak and ale, minted lamb and pea, chicken, ham and leek. You can tell them apart at a glance, on the shelf or on the screen.

Getting the word out

The Bakehouse Café and trade customers each have their own page, and menus, page titles and descriptions are set up so the store turns up when people search for a local butcher. For launch we designed a flyer for the counter and the local area, with a QR code that goes straight to the store. Simple, local, and it works.
